FlyBar Cocktail Boutique is the perfect compliment to Dragonfly Foodbar

img_0628Chef Doug Kerr has certainly made a name for himself with his eclectic combinations of  fresh ingredients that both surprise and delight at the same time. Both Doug and Brie were working at in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area when Deepwater Horizon errupted.  When Doug found himself without a job to go to, he immediately began planning the menu to revisit life as an entreprenuer with his taco concept. The original Dragonfly Foodbar location opened on Fairhope Avenue in 2010. For four years the couple and their staff worked out of a very small kitchen where at times, seating hungry patrons was a challenge. Their business grew exponentially and after much thought, they decided that they needed more room. In December of 2014, Dragonfly Foodbar relocated to their current location on Church Street.
Ever since the business has been in operation, Brie has wanted to expound upon her years of bartending experience and infuse the same concept that Doug exercises with food into beverages and cocktails. Although Dragonfly Foodbar had more kitchen and guest capacity, there was still limited space where the bar was concerned. When an adjoining space came available they knew it was time. Doug worked feverishly to get the corner spot transformed for his bride and for his business and FlyBar opened in conjunction with Downtown Fairhope’s First Friday Artwalk in March of 2016. A spacious, covered, outside deck was added shortly after providing a relaxed, alfresco atmosphere.
FlyBar is a cocktail boutique that specializes in mixed beverages you can’t get anywhere else. All the recipes are a collaboration between bartenders and employees. They play off unique flavor combinations combined with fresh ingredients, just like the food for which the operation is known. They also house an eclectic beer selection – special domestics, craft and imported beers as well as Fairhope Brewing Company’s bottled beers.

Because the staffing rotates, you will see the same friendly faces at FlyBar that you do at Dragonfly Foodbar. You can also order off the Foodbar menu and have it served to you at FlyBar as long as the kitchen is open. FlyBar offers a daily specialty drink along with a seasonal specialty drink menu. FlyBar’s hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday, 5pm until midnight, Thursday and Friday, 5pm until 2am and Saturday, 3pm until 2am.
